The winter holidays are upon us, and with them, a fiscal forecast that is less than festive.  With austerity in the air, it seems that holiday happenings, especially travel, are destined to be on the spartan side.

However, fear not 99 percent-ers: vacation is not only for the silk-stocking crowd and cost consciousness does not mean cutting out R&R. In a travel industry that charges premiums on everything, is playing Mr. Clause, spreading the ho ho holiday rental cheer.

They say the way you spend your New Year’s Eve is the way you’re going to spend the rest of the year, in which case it looks like 2012 is going to be the Year of Savings.
