Niagara on the Lake is commended around the globe for its award winning icewines. Thanks to the severe winter temperatures, Niagara on the Lake provides the perfect environment for making (and enjoying) the best icewine. In Niagara on the Lake, icewine is so celebrated that they have dedicated an entire month to celebrate the exquisite drink. Every January the Niagara on the Lake Icewine Festival takes place and features an array of icewine-inspired events. There are several free events as well as events with varied admission prices. Free events include the Niagara on the Lake Icewine Village and the Flash & Panache Icewine Cocktail Competition.
Niagara on the Lake Icewine Village transforms Niagara’s historic Queen Street into a winter wonderland! With Canadian jazz playing in the background, the atmosphere will be as festive as that of the 28 wineries serving up their delicious icewine. While at the festival, be sure to try one of the many special icewine-inspired menus followed by a walking tour of town to check out some of the ice sculptures!
Cocktail lovers can’t miss the Flash & Panache Cocktail Competition. Mixologists are given the challenge to craft delicious concoctions that incorporate Niagara icewine. Stop by (admission is free!) and be the first to try one-of-a-kind cocktails.
One of the best ways to experience Niagara on the Lake is by staying at one of the region’s rental accommodations, including cottage rentals, bed and breakfasts and cottage resorts. Also, while in the area, you’ll likely want to visit the famous and stunning Niagara Falls, so take a look at our Niagara region rentals as well – there are several vacation rentals and bed and breakfasts in Niagara Falls.
